Advertising on your Blog

Posted at 03:31, May. 1, 2008 in Hints and Tips

When you have your ESL blog set up you may want to use it to help make some money for you. One way of doing this is to publish some advertising on your blog, and ESL Advertising can supply you with the code to add to your template.

Sounds confusing?

I'll try to set out the steps here.

STEP 1: Register as a publisher at ESL Advertising

STEP 2: Login to your Publisher Account and select the Ad Code Wizard.

STEP 3: Select the style of ad that you want to include on your blog.

STEP 4: Choose the content channel (Sponsored or ESL Ads)

STEP 5: Copy the code that is generated.  Go to the editing mode for your blog and select Template->Edit Template. Paste the code it into the html content of your blog page(s).

STEP 6: Preview the changes  and Save them when you are ready.

STEP 7: Track the visits and clicks on your ads in your ESL Advertising account.

Good luck.

Help For ESL Newstart

Posted at 10:37, Apr. 25, 2008 in First Steps

Have you started on the 4 tasks for ESL Newstart? If you have not seen them yet go to http://www.esl-marketing.com/newstart1.html and check out what they are, and how they will help you on your way to a stable reliable internet income.

Included in the tasks are a couple of things that are related to blogging, and using the ESL Member Blogs.

This post will outline what you need to do to get started with the blogging tasks.

Firstly you will need to sign up for a blog. This can be done at http://blogs.esl-marketing.com/portal.php or you can follow the link from the ESL Marketing Home Page.

When you have confirmed your email address and you have also joined ESL Marketing as a member, you will be upgraded to ESL PRO Blogging. That will give you more templates to choose from, and some other added features.

With your weblog (blog) set up, just create a simple blog entry about yourself and your marketing experience (or your hopes and plans for developing your marketing skills).

When you have completed all tasks, a link to your blog should be sent to Dave at ceo@esl-marketing.com along with the other tasks.

In the next post (or 2) I will show how to add the ESL Advertising code to your blog template. You can see what the ESL Ads look like on your blog by visiting http://blogs.esl-marketing.com/cricketboomer/ where there is a banner ad at the top and text ads on the right side of the page.

Good luck with your tasks, and we look forward to reading and sharing your blog.

How to Add and Resize a Picture

Posted at 07:56, Feb. 19, 2008 in First Steps

Log on and go to the Add Entry item in the menubar for Items.

When you are ready to add a picture select the Insert Image Icon.

Fill in details in the Webpage Dialog box by either browsing through your computer, or choosing a file already stored on another site. Click the upload button.

On the left hand side, take note of the values in the Width Height and Border boxes. These can be changed to suit your post. They will change the size of the picture.

Click the Insert Image button.

You can come back later and edit the entry to edit the size of the image by clicking the image and choosing the Add/Edit Image icon.

Below is an example of the results. Originally the picture was 4 times bigger.

Videos to help you get started.

Posted at 10:30, Jan. 6, 2008 in Blogging

If you have just started your blog and are not sure what to do next, there are lots of people and websites out there to help. In fact there are probably too many, and all that happens is that you become totally confused.

A search on EasySearchLive came up with results, with the first page Showing 1 - 10 of around 124,000,000 results for blogging help. (Google's first page had Results 1 - 10 of about 7,900,000 for blogging help). That's way too many pages to check out.

It is probably best to find one source of help, and get as much as you can from that to make sure that you are not overwhelmed.

If you are someone who finds it useful to watch as someone else demonstrates, the videos by Dave Guindon are an excellent resource. He has a series of videos that deal with many aspects of setting up and managing a weblog. Dave's videos are in a membership website, and there are hundreds of step-by-step videos in that site. You can join for a short time, check out the videos you want, then cancel your membership.

Dave's videos on Setting up and Managing a blog are based on using WordPress, but most of the techniques will also apply to ESL Blogs. The topics of each video are:-

checkmark How to manually install a Worpress blog on your web host.
